What is Our Pottery Like?

Our white pottery, or ‘bisque’, is made from white clay, poured into moulds, and first fired to cone 04 (1060C). Most of the pottery is made in the far east and asia and imported from the UK. The bisque is very high quality, consistent in appearance, of a good weight, and with a surface which accepts paint or underglaze easily.

We have an extensive range of well over 150 different pottery items to choose from, and we introduce new stock as often as possible.  There is something for everyone – decorative pieces such as vases, boxes and picture frames;  kitchen and dinnerware items such as plates, cups, mugs, bowls and platters; kids’ items such as money boxes, alien dudes, fairies and diva girls, men’s gifts such as desk organizers and pen cups, and holiday/seasonal items ranging from tree ornaments to valentine hearts to chick eggs and Hallowe’en pumpkins.  If we don’t have what you are looking for, ask us, and maybe we can find it and order it in.

Given Bahrain’s recognised expertise in pottery and clay craftsmanship, we hope in the future to offer locally made pottery for painting and firing – watch this space!

About our Paints

All our paints are non toxic, water based and washable. Your gleaming ceramic will be ready for collection 5 to 7 days after painting – fully food-safe and dishwasher proof, and utterly usable!

Are You In a Hurry?

We also offer acrylic painting on bisque which only needs to be spray sealed – so pieces will be ready to take home 30 minutes after painting. While these paints are lovely too, you must remember that the pieces will not be fired, and so will not be ceramic. This means they will not be foodsafe or waterproof – so will be suitable for use on decorative pieces only.

Specialty Glazes

We have a range of specialty glazes, not all of which are on display. Ask about our crystals and crystaltone glazes, our art and metallic glazes, and our special glazes for majolica work. Come and experiment! Most of these glazes carry a small additional cost.
